Everybody, Just Chill

Ok, everybody. Just chill out for a minute. All kind of pundits - on both sides apparently - are whining and crying about Mike Huckabee not having made a decision yet about whether he will run for president. It seems, in fact, that some of these pundits are trying to goad Huckabee into announcing his intensions.


Headlines scream breathlessly, "HUCKABEE LOSES ANOTHER IOWA STAFFER!" Talking heads say he is "too comfortable in his new career to run."

I call B.S. on all of it.

First of all, I don't think Mike Huckabee won Iowa last time around because of those staffers. I think those staffers won Iowa because of Mike Huckabee.

Not to hurt anyone's feelings, but I think Huckabee has far outgrown the staff he had last time around. IF he runs, he'll have no trouble compiling a FORMIDABLE staff, and a POWERFUL campaign, and he WILL win Iowa. He WILL win South Carolina, and he WILL be very, very hard to beat for the GOP nomination.

Secondly, because Mike Huckabee is an Authentic, Christian Conservative, he will run for president because he feels CALLED to do so. NOT because we want him to (or don't want him to). And anyone who thinks that Mike Huckabee will ignore a calling to pursue his own personal comfort and wealth DOES NOT KNOW the Mike Huckabee I know.

So. Just. Chill.
